INTRODUCTORY PATHWAY
STAGE 1 B – RIDING
Introductory Equestrian General Riding book covers the basic concepts of equestrian riding, essential to the provision of minimum standards of horse and rider welfare and safety.
By completing this course in conjunction with the Introductory Horse Management, you will be eligible to complete the Introductory Coaching course. With the knowledge you gain in this course, you will be able to complete basic facets of general riding successfully.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- 12 years of age
- Access to a suitable horse

UNITS
UNIT 1 : FLATWORK
Unit 1 is estimated to take 5 – 8 hours for completion, and will begin to introduce general riding principles, such as the seat and the training scale.

UNIT 2 : RIDING IN THE OPEN AND OVER TROT POLES
Unit 2 is estimated to take 5 – 8 hours for completion, and will begin to introduce riding I the open and over poles.
5-8 hours.
UNIT 3 : LUNGING THE HORSE
Unit 3 is estimated to take 5 – 8 hours for completion, and will begin to introduce general lunging and safety.
5-8 hours.
ASSESSMENTS
You will be required to undertake approximately 6 hours of practical assessments.
